Whalecircus Vol.7 Solareti

Whale Circus VOL.7 — SOLARETI was conceived during a period in which the perception of time became increasingly disoriented. Over the course of three years, the boundaries between yesterday, today, and tomorrow gradually blurred, leaving only an extended sense of the present moment. Within this compressed and folded temporal structure, complex human emotions and speculative visions of the future began to intertwine, ultimately forming the central thematic framework of the album.
This work attempts to move beyond the temporal constraints typically associated with musical composition, approaching instead a form of narrative construction more commonly found in cinema. Music here functions not merely as a collection of emotional fragments, but as a medium through which stories, characters, and memories are articulated, allowing listeners to enter a fictional yet continuous narrative environment.
In late 2022, Xingyu Li completed the short science fiction story SOLARETI, which shares its title with the album. This text became a key component of the album’s world-building, marking a shift toward cross-media expression. Through the integration of writing, imagery, and sound, the project expands from a musical release into a multidimensional narrative field.
Where previous works may have served as vessels for fragments of lived experience and imagination, SOLARETI represents the construction of an entire fictional universe. Within this space, we are invited to reconsider the authenticity of our own existence, and the recurring questions that resonate between emotion and memory:
When we perceive love, and reach out to touch it,
until a response arrives from a consciousness across the universe,
eternity may exist only within that very moment
of completion,
and conclusion.
